A key factor in the success of Solatube® Daylighting Systems is the quality of the components – from roof dome to ceiling diffuser, every component is fully tested and manufactured to the highest standard, resulting in a quality system that is unrivalled in its performance. And it's not only tested by Solatube, but other independent bodies, such as the UK's
British Board of Agrément (BBA) who award certificates to a construction product or system only after it has successfully passed a comprehensive assessment involving laboratory testing, on-site evaluations and inspections of production. BBA Certificates are recognised by building control, government departments, architects, local authorities, specifiers and industry insurers such as the NHBC. Solatube is the only tubular daylighting system in the UK to achieve this certification.
All Solatube® Daylighting Systems are supplied with everything you need for installation – there are no hidden extras. Every system is supplied with:

Solatube® domes are injection moulded from virtually unbreakable, impact-resistant polycarbonate, TP(a) fire rated to comply with UK Building Regulations, and they incorporate UV screening. The curved shape of the roof dome ensures that the surface is cleansed by the elements and therefore is completely maintenance-free.
The Raybender® 3000 Fresnel lens in the dome and the LightTracker™ reflector ensure that the most daylight possible is captured by the dome. Solatube® roof domes comply with all UK building regulations and have been approved for use in hurricane and cyclone zones.

All Solatube® Daylighting Systems are supplied with a roof flashing kit. We offer standard flashing kits for flat and pitched roofs, and a number of bespoke flashings for more unusual roof types.

All our roof flashings are designed to ensure a weather-proof and maintenance-free installation and are simple to install. No environmentally-unfriendly lead is required to fit Solatube® flashings. Please contact us if you need any advice regarding a suitable flashing for your roof type. Below are some examples of our standard roof flashing kits on various roof types.

Left are some examples of the pitched roof flashing kit installed onto various roof types.
The pitched roof flashing kit contains a metal roof flashing, neoprene flashing insulator, sealant and Solaflex fixings.

Right are examples of our flat roof flashing kit installed onto flat roofs (felt, hot roll).
The flat roof flashing kit contains a metal roof flashing, neoprene flashing insulator, and sealant.
For an overview of how to fit the pitched or flat roof flashing kit, please see our Solatube Brighten Up Series installation guide.
In addition to our standard flat and pitched roof flashing kits, a number of bespoke flashings are available for more unusual roof types such as standing seam, metal roof tile, wall-mounted and sedum (green roofs) – please contact us for details of these flashings and flashings for other roof types.

The top tube assembly is made from 99.7% reflective Spectralight® Infinity material and incorporates a 0-30° adjustable angle for ease of installation – the tube rotates to the required angle in order to accommodate different roof pitches and to route tubing around obstacles in the attic.
The assembly is constructed with factory-installed seals to prevent air infiltration and a proprietary condensation control system that draws any condensation in the dome into a special channel in the roof dome and out onto the roof through specially-designed exit points (right).
A neoprene dome ring insulator provides a thermal break and insect seal between the roof flashing and dome ring. The assembly has a removable film that protects the reflective surface during transit and installation.

The ceiling tube assembly is also made from 99.7% reflective Spectralight® Infinity material and has an adjustable 0-30° angle adaptor. For ease of installation and adjustment, it features a pre-assembled
ceiling-ring, with integrated triple seal for excellent insulation, and four twist-lock fixing mechanisms (right) that make it easy to clamp the ceiling tube assembly to the ceiling yet can easily be loosened to allow adjustments during the installation process. The assembly has a removable film that protects the reflective surface during transit and installation.
Each tube assembly is 305mm long; together they give an install distance (roof to ceiling) of up to 400mm. This is generally sufficient for flat roofs, vaulted ceilings, or very shallow pitch roofs. For greater install distances you will need to purchase additional extension tubes (see below).

The Vusion™ diffuser is supplied as standard with every Solatube® 160 DS or 290 DS. It fits neatly to the ceiling with no visible fasteners, and delivers outstanding natural light diffusion through a frosted prismatic lens.

This quality diffuser features a twist fitting. It is double-glazed to prevent heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, thus saving you money on energy costs. The diffuser blocks virtually all UV transmission to prevent fading of carpets and soft furnishings.

Solatube® offers a range of diffusers, so you’re guaranteed to find a design to complement your home.

Solatube® extension tubes are available in straight or angled 610mm lengths. If your install distance is greater than 400mm you will need to purchase additional extension tubes to meet the distance required. See our specification page to calculate the number of tubes you will require over a given install distance.
The straight tube lengths telescope together to give you the required tube length to meet your install distance requirement. The 99.7% reflective Spectralight® Infinity material used in Solatube® extension tubes means that very effective light delivery is possible with tube lengths of up to 6 metres for the Solatube® 160 DS and 9 metres for the Solatube® 290 DS.
The angled extension tube lengths incorporate a 0-90 degree angle that twists to accommodate turns and avoid obstructions in the tube's path. They also use 99.7% Spectralight® Infinity for minimal light loss. Please see our Accessories section for further details.
