Solatube® Brighten Up® SeriesSolatube® captures daylight from your rooftop, pipes it down a highly reflective tube, then delivers it into the room below – simple but brilliant! There are no running costs and the system is maintenance free. Solatube® is the most efficient daylight system of its kind. Read more about how Solatube® Daylighting Systems work.
The cost of a Solatube® Daylighting System is determined by the size (diameter) you require, the roof flashing type, and the tube length needed to connect the dome on the roof to the diffuser in the ceiling. Prices start from £199 + VAT – our price & order guide gives clear advice on how to order your Solatube® Daylighting System and what it will cost.
The Solatube® Brighten Up Series has several patented design technologies;
Two active daylight harvesting devices in the roof dome – the Raybender® 3000 lens system and the LightTracker™ dome reflector. These two devices alone can more than double the amount of light that is directed into the tube aperture. Once the daylight has been harvested, the exclusive 99.7% reflective Spectralight® Infinity tubing ensures that the maximum light possible is transferred to the ceiling diffuser. No other system can boast these features and this is why the Solatube® Brighten Up® Series comes with a Highest Performance Guarantee and why Solatube® Daylighting Systems give unrivalled performance.
The Solatube® Brighten Up® Series is ideal for domestic use; the Solatube® 160 DS is a 250mm diameter system that will light up to 13sqm, the Solatube® 290 DS is a 350mm diameter system that will light up to 22sqm. Both sizes are designed to fit between standard roof joists for easy installation. The Solatube® 160 DS is ideal for bathrooms (it can be fitted with an integral bathroom ventilation kit), hallways, small stairways or landings. The Solatube® 290 DS is suited to living areas or larger stairwells and landings. For more expansive areas or long narrow hallways or corridors, Solatube® Daylighting Systems can be used in multiples. Check our Solatube® specification page to see which size you need.
A Solatube® Daylighting System – indeed any tubular daylighting device – works in a similar manner to a window; the brighter the day outside, the more light you receive inside. Our lumen and lux level chart shows how much light you can expect to receive from a Solatube® Daylighting System under UK weather conditions, and you can then compare this to the light from standard electric lamps using the lamp comparison chart. The key when choosing a tubular daylighting device is to ensure you select one that has the best light capture features and light transfer features available to take full advantage of the available daylight. Solatube® guarantee that no other tubular daylighting device will deliver more light in all weather conditions than a Solatube® Daylighting System.
Solatube® Daylighting Systems have some key advantages over traditional skylights and windows. While these traditional methods have their place, Solatube® Daylighting Systems can offer adaptable location options, lower cost of installation, better lighting performance, and more (see our Solatube® vs windows page), as well as a range of accessories that can turn your Solatube® Daylighting System into a multi-functional unit.
